We got up early this morning and started driving at about 6:30am; thankfully the kids slept through the early driving. We crossed the rest of Kansas on I 70 and then started into Colorado. The trip seemed to go quicker today, and the time changes have really helped. We crossed into Mountain time zone so we are now 2 hours earlier than home. We got to our campground at about 3pm so we had some time to get settled in and to look around. The car has been towing great, but we did have issues today with the battery. By the time we got here it was completely dead. Elk Meadow Lodge & RV Resort will be home for the next 3 nights. Just passed Estes Park, CO, it is less than 1 mile from the Beaver Meadow Visitors Center in Rocky Mtn Nat’l Park. Our timing worked out so well that we had enough time to go to the visitors center and talk to the ranger about recommended hiking spots. It was so helpful that we left with a plan for both of our full days here. We decided to head into the park a little since we had time and that made us even more excited about our time here. It is beautiful!! We stopped for a few minutes at a lookout spot that has amazing views of Long’s Peak (the highest point of the park at 14,259 ft).
When we got back, the kids were anxious to ride their bikes and swim in the pool. :) The weather here has been gorgeous but it did start to get a little chilly when the sun went down.
Looking forward to beginning our exploration of the park tomorrow!
so happy that your enjoying the trip! sounds
like so much fun.
The pictures are amazing – I know you are having a great time!!!
