We are off!!
One of the things that we have learned in our few years of traveling is that just leaving and getting on the road is a huge accomplishment in itself. Until we actually pull out there is always just one more thing that needs to get done. No matter how many lists are made in preparation for a trip there are always so many last minute things that end up taking the most time. We did pretty well by pulling out at 6:30 pm only about 1 1/2 hours later than the goal. The plan was to just drive till the exhaustion kicked in and that didn’t take too long. :) We pulled off into the NC border welcome center at about 11pm. Tired and worn out from weeks of packing, planning, and trying to get ahead at work, we went to bed content with the fact that at least we had made it out of our own state on the first day. :)
