We left this morning after a good nights sleep and continued our journey west. We covered over 500 miles and rolled into the Denver area late afternoon. Our home for the next three nights was to be the Central City KOA about 45 miles west of Denver. The proprietors of this fine establishment took it upon themselves to find the steepest, narrowest, windiest road in all of Colorado and then place their KOA smack at the top! We had come through this area last year on our way from Rocky Mountain NP to Steamboat Springs. Central City was an old mining town that was later converted to a gambling mecca in the 1990’s as the town struggled financially. The KOA did not have a pool (odd, we thought) but did have two large Jaccuzis that Greg and Thomas put to good use tonight. We got a good nights sleep as we prepared for our next day’s hike.
