San Diego, USS Midway, Coronado and RV Repair

Posted by on June 16, 2017

When we awoke, we found the RV’s breaker panel and determined that the front HVAC breaker had tripped in the desert heat and just needed to be flipped- one problem solved!  I spoke with the RV diesel repairman and he was to us by 9:30am.  After some quick diagnostics, he determined which hydraulic line had ruptured and left to purchase a new line and by 11:30 we had a new line installed and crossed off problem #2 from our list!  The broken steps is a harder issue to fix and we can live with a step stool for the remainder of this trip.  We did a little work from the camper and left to explore San Diego by 2pm.  Our first stop was the USS Midway aircraft carrier.  The entire program that the Midway offers (planes, helicopter, movie, tour of the ship, etc.) is very impressive and I wish we would have had more time but the Midway closed at 5pm so we had to hurry.  We left downtown San Diego and headed across the bridge to the beautiful island of Coronado.  We drove to the end, parked and took a long walk on the beach in the mild San Diego climate before stopping just short of the historic Coronado de >>> hotel.  After a delicious later dinner we arrived back to Mission Bay to our campground, Campland on the Bay.  We had read reviews that this campground was pretty rockin’ but I don’t think we fully knew what we were getting in to- this place was a fully contained party campground- live bands, loud music, sports courts, skateboard park, marina, beach, people on bikes everywhere and more! Thomas loved it and didn’t want to leave to visit San Diego at all!  Tomorrow we are off to explore San Diego again!
