LA Dodger baseball and Lindsay visit college friend

Posted by on June 19, 2017

We pulled out late morning from the Mission Bay area to begin the short journey northward to Anaheim which is to be our home base for the next 4 days.  We encountered only minor traffic and by 1pm we arrived at our campground, the Anaheim RV Park.  While it is smaller, it is very nice and a welcome quiet break from the raucous Campland.  We did some work in the afternoon.  Lindsay had contacted her college friend, Tasha, who lives just a short drive away and the two of them decided to go out for a girls night dinner.  That left me and the kids for the evening on our own.  We left the RV around 5pm and headed for Compton.  The kids, after hearing the phrase, “Straight Outta Compton”, had to go and witness it for themselves.  I think we were all expecting Compton to be “grittier” than what we experienced but then again we were there during the daytime and only on a few select streets.  After finding our way back to Interstate-5 or as the locals call it, “the 5” we were on our way to Dodger Stadium!  We always enjoy going to a major league baseball game and I had always wanted to go to a game at historic Dodger Stadium.  The atmosphere was great and the game of Dodgers versus New York Mets was a fantastic display of offensive power with each team hitting 4 home runs for 8 total in the game.  We almost caught a foul ball and enjoyed delicious ballpark fare of Dodgerdogs, sodas, garlic fries, cotton candy, churros and Slurpee’s over the next 3 ½ hours!  The hometown Dodgers won 10-6 and we made our way back to the RV worn out and tired but ready for tomorrow’s adventures at Disneyland!
