YNP and tree sap
This morning we let V&T climb the nearby tree again. It was a bad idea- they got tree sap in their clothes, hair and skin- contemplating throwing them away- the clothes, not the children. :) We had a nice peaceful lunch and headed out for a short adventure around 2 pm. We had not explored the … Continue reading
YNP Lower Loop
We left the Fishing Bridge area headed west toward Grant Village/West Thumb. It is a nice drive along the border of Lake Yellowstone which covers 131 square miles and has 141 miles of shoreline. Stopping at West Thumb Geyser Basin for the 1/2 mile boardwalk of hot features. Some of the more memorable were Fishing … Continue reading
Excitement at Yellowstone
We slept in this morning again and left the camper around 11am. YNP roads are set up as a large figure 8 known as the Grand Loop with the 5 entrances jutting off of the 8. Today, we are going to do the top part known as the Upper Loop. We drove north and herds … Continue reading
On to Yellowstone Nat Park! (YNP)
Sorry for delay- no internet last few days at YNP. We slept in this morning as we were still wiped out from the long day before. We packed up and said goodbye to Colter Bay Campground and GTNP. The campground has been our favorite so far and reminds us of our mountain campgrounds back home … Continue reading
Exploring GTNP and Jackson Hole
Probably one of our best days yet! We awoke a little after 8 am and had a good breakfast before heading out just after 9 am from the campground at Colter Bay. The day started out rather ominous by just starting a light sprinkle as we were pulling out. We started our day heading south … Continue reading
Into the Grand Tetons Nat Park (GTNP)
G again. We departed Flaming Gorge campground at 8:30 am and quickly got on Highway 191. A beautiful scenic drive that took us from Northern Utah into Wyoming. The road becomes known as the Centennial Scenic Byway- and is truly breathtaking. Around 3 pm, we entered the Jackson Hole area just south of GTNP. The … Continue reading
Dinosaur National Monument & Flaming Gorge Dam
G Again. We left Steamboat Springs early and drove for almost 3 hours crossing over from Colorado into Utah. A beautiful drive with gradual slopes made for nice driving after yesterdays hair raising driving adventure out of RMNP. Around 11am we pulled into Dinosaur NM for a quick visit. You park and can see the … Continue reading
Drive from Rocky Mtn NP to Steamboat Springs
G Again. We left RMNP at 11am for the drive that was supposed to be 140 miles to Steamboat Springs. That shorter route would have taken us over the steep Trail Ridge Road inside RMNP with a 60′ vehicle (40 of camper and 20 of dinghy toad) so I decided to take the route south … Continue reading
Bear Lake Road
G writing today’s post. Bear Lake Road is undergoing heavy maintenance and is closed to private vehicles from 9am-4pm. If you get on the road prior to 9am however they will let you travel it leaving. Additionally, there is a mad rush for the limited parking spots at the end of Bear Lake road … Continue reading
Trail Ridge Road
We decided that today would be our Trail Ridge Road day. We knew it was a must see and we wanted to drive it in the car before it was time to leave. We originally had it as our way to leave the park come Wednesday. Taking a larger motorhome over the road is actually pretty controversial. … Continue reading
